if you've taken physics in high school, you will understand how the pivot adjuster works. it's basically a rheostat with extra buttons to turn on and off the headlights.
Making your own design is not difficult.
I'm not sure if you guys have stores like Radioshack, but drop by an electronics store and find all the necessary parts to build ur own... usually cheaper and there are a few people who's drawn up their own designs on the net.
just takes a lil bit of knowledge on wiring the thing.

cheap way:
1. step on remove the spring in the stock headlight switch...
2. push in switch...then pull out (you'll have to pull it out because there isn't a spring anymore...duh&#33
3. turn on headlights
4. turn off headlights (they won't go down by themselves)
5. push in the switch and pull back out quickly (this will stop the motor again and keep your headlights stuck out whatever level you pulled out the switch at)
6. enjoy your sleepy eyed look
7. if you want to put back your normal function, then repeat 3 and 4, on 5, instead of pulling them out in the middle of the process...let them go down all the way and pull them out ...this will allow your headlights to operate as normal...

if this isn't a what a pivot headlight controller does...then go ignore this message and leave me alone...

You cannot have your lights on while you have the "sleepy look"
Once you do it ,itll be much easier to understand.

well if you really want that look at night all you have to do is unplug the motor for the pop up lights on each side. but by doing this you will not be able to put them back up with out reconnecting the motor.

I have done the toggle switch trick and it works fine. There must be another relay for the lights, because as soon as you turn the lights on, the motor turns the lights off and they go down and then automatically go back up and the lights turn on.
kinda confusing i know but if you have done the trick with the toggle switch you will know what i am talking about.

Actually the Pivot switch is pretty cool in the sense that there is a knob which you can set so that the lights return to the correct position ALL the time. Also, I don't know if something is "wrong" with our wiring, but I CAN turn on the lights while they are in the sleepy eye configuration.

You learned that in Physics in high school? My physics class never went over that, or maybe they did when I was sleeping.

I'll have to take it apart ,so I can tell you what color wire you need to connect the toggle switch to.

All you have to do ,is remove the switch that controls the headlights (UP DOWN not ON OFF)

Cut "a wire" from the harness that goes to the "UP-DOWN" switch

Connect the toggle switch between the 2 pieces of wire you just cut

-----------------------
----------------------
-------        -------> On/OFF switch
          l l
          l l
        ----------
        toggle
           switch

Confused ?

Its not hard at all!!
Ill check the color tomorrow!

Does your 'toggle' switch allow for precise adjustment for the pop-up opening?

HaLo, Yes it does!
You have to play w/it, but youll get it real quick!

The wire you need to hook up the toggle switch to, is a light green color, which is in the middle a light blue and purple wire.

What the switch does is basically cut the power going to the UP DOWN motors.

What you do is hit your switch to pop the lights UP, then DOWN, when theyre coming down ,you hit your NEW toggle switch and stop them at the desire height!
Hope this helps!!!

I also have a magazine article on how to wire your headlights so theyll turn on while in "sleepy mode" but its in japanese,Ill try to scan it!
