5 speed swap vert with cruise

I know there have been many threads that are in the same general area as my question, but I've found none to answer my specific question, so maybe one of you guys can help me out.

I've been studying the wiring diagrams for starting, ASCD, and convertible top control, looking for a way to have all these things work without a bunch of hacked up wiring. I THINK I may have come up with an answer, but I'd like a guru to follow my thought process...

Ok, so with an automatic, the inhibitor switch and inhibitor relay control all. The top and starter work in P/N and ASCD in not P/N. According to the ASCD wiring schematic, the inhibitor relay is normally closed and sends power through the ASCD cancel switch when in gear. When shifted to Park or Neutral, the inhibitor switch powers the inhibitor relay control coil, which cuts power to the ASCD and sends power to an auxiliary terminal on the inhibitor relay.

My question is, could you use the neutral position switch on the 5 speed transmission to power the inhibitor relay? If so, you could keep the inhibitor relay and change the power source for the convertible top to the auxiliary terminal on the inhibitor relay instead of the inhibitor switch, which is how it came factory.

I apologize for being wordy, but maybe somebody could check my work and see if I'm right. Thanks in advance!
