1989 240sx SE breaking system
Hi all. tried searching but cant seem to get an answere. I dont knoe much about breaking system...so first off, does a 1989-90 240sx SE have ASB? also, what is the recomended breaking system for it? i know 300zx calipers are the shit, but dotn have the time and money to get one. All i want is some drilled rotors and soem good break pads. waht are some good brands?
I was just planning to buy some breka pads at autozone or pepboys or soemthing. not looking to spend soo much money on the breaking system, but just want it good enough for a legit performance. |

It might have ABS, it might not. It was an option. Look in the engine bay on the firewall on the passenger side... if the brake lines go into a big aluminum thing, that's the ABS module. Or, start the car and watch the warning lights on the dash. ABS will have its own warning light separate from the brake warning light.
Cross-drilled rotors are crap. If your rotors need to be replaced, replace with a good quality blank (OEM style) rotor. Parts-store pads are crap too. Actually, one of the chains has "NASCAR Select" pads that are halfway decent, despite the name. KVR is a good inexpensive aftermarket street pad. |

Anyways i have PBR ceramic pads, no problems with them so far, low dust with good bite. I had napa ones before they were okay as well

300zx calipers are 70 bucks a pair, so they don't take much time and money, but "one" isn't going to give you legitimate breaking performance.
give me 20 bucks and I'll bring over a louisville slugger and do all the breaking you want on your car. |
