Real quick, my 84 ford ranger only fails on HC (PPM) reading on smog test... what does HC mean? It didnt fail by much, just wondering if a seafoam treatment is worth it becuase I just did it to my s13 and it helpd big time..

HC = Hydro Carbons also known as incomplete combustion

What are your exact readings for HC/CO/NOX for the 15 and 25mph test? and what city are you in?

readings are as follows
15mph 136 Max 136 Measured
24mph 108 Max 113 Measured

Im in riverside.

Check spark plugs, make sure your CAT is super hot, and pour in some premium octane or fuel injector cleaner.

change your oil and air filter, might wanna change your fuel filter while your at it. make sure your cat is really hot, so drive it hard around the block a couple of times right before the tech brings it in to test.

if you do use seafoam, youll probably want to change your spark plugs afterward.

I know a place at san bernadino (near loma linda) will make it pass for $200-$250

but i think you can just simply improve it by adjust the timing
