Update;

Engine bay was looking worse for wear, so that only means one thing. A complete rewire and top to bottom panel & paint

Impatience means putting the motor back in on grass and soft dirt. Surprised that this was even possible tbh

Factory colour with a bit of blue in the clear, looks fantastic in the sun but I don't really have a good enough camera to show this;

All door jams and inside of the doors, boot lid etc all resprayed the same colour. Got a little carried away and did all the hinges and even the factory sr catch can..

In some lights it looks like the black pearl, and in others it turns blue so I'm excited to see what the outside looks like while rolling down the road. Please excuse the interior as that's on hold until after the respray and rewire

Some previous owner drilled holes in the front guards for the quick release bumper retainer things so had to weld those up (im shit at welding)

Not the best but nothing a hammer, dolly and bog cant fix

Its amazing what a de-loom and paint can do. Also there's no p/s pump or lines as I've gone for a manualized rack setup. That is a huge job in itself to do properly and have it certified for road use, and will probably feel like shit when done but I kinda want to fuck around and find out

Il be painting the outside of the car soon and then on to the re-wire of a re-wire

Any comments or ideas welcome

Looks good so far. IDK why you'd want to take the RB out, but that's just me. Updates?

Its a factory rd28 diesel car so it never had an rb. I have had rbs before and they're great and I love them but I'm giving the sr a go! It really changes the way the car handles, and moves a lot of weight back.

For a car that was 1360kg (2998lbs) to now be under 1100kg really changes things. It will probably end up with an rb20 at some point though if i'm honest..

Updates this weekend

A good friend of mine made me up a fresh pinion assembly. Lots of laws surrounding how this has to be done (for good reason) but we think this should pass certification for street use in New Zealand

We had to remove the valve spool and all seals, remove the torsion rod, and machine a new 4140 body and pin it to the shaft. Combined with the solid steering column spacer I've got it should have a pretty direct steering feel

Moved on to the destroyed bumper corner

Had to make a new corner and remake the shape/fit it to the guard. Challenging job

Reasonably happy, hopefully it holds up

Before I tore it apart

As long as everything is legal they can't do anything, it will be a funny interaction though
