newbie needs advice (s14 to s15 conversion)

hey guys, I'm totally new to the 240. Hopefully the members here can offer me with some help. Recently, I bought a s15 complete car half cut with the rear end. I am planning on buying a 95-98 240 and dropping in the drivetrain. I also received the complete front end which includes the headlights, front bumper, fenders and hood. Basically the car was cut behind the dash and I was provided with everything other then the doors, roof and rear panels.

I need to know 2 things:

first, will the fenders, hood, and headlight go onto to the 95-98 240 with minor mods? Remember, because this is a half cut, I do have the fender rails and chassis legs, rad support etc. I understand that most people buy a conversion kit. In my case, I was hoping to use the oem fenders. Let me know what type of problems I will encounter when trying to bolt on the pieces from the s15 donor car onto the 95-98 240.

secondly, I received a full set of coilovers from the s15. Will this set of coilover fit onto a a 95-98 240? If not directly, can it be modified to fit? Perhaps spacers are needed?

thanks for all your input. I really want to know what I am getting myself into before starting such project.

merry christmas to all.

you have so much to learn...wow...at least you are asking...but seriously...you have crazy work and lots of $$ ahead of you if you want to pull all that off...then again i imagine it cost a pretty penny thus far...so if you can afford the custom work it will take then anything is possible...

nothing will bolt right on...

wow I dont know too many people that buy a clip first without having a car to put it on or even doing research about what they just bought or works in the first place.

Headlights will need to be custom mounted. You should be able to put that s15 rad support onto the s14 and go from there. Hood will bolt up, but will need to be extended out @ hood hinges (custom work). Fenders will need to be hacked/welded with s14 fenders to fit.

The pillow ball mounts from s15 should fit, dont know how the lower part looks like tho.

You will have to cut and welded the S14 and S15 fenders together and if you have anymore money left...replace the rad support. It's also NOT an easy task to get a S15 SR20DET in your car.

true....but I mentioned that if he had the money and didn't want to rad support to go to waste.

IvanAtSPRacing is right....there really is not much GOOD information out there. I wanted to make a detailed write-up just like I did with the zenki -> kouki conversion, but I still lacked some info (which I might get from SilviaDriver).

okay guys. Has anyone ever done the front end conversion using all the oem s15 pieces and putting it onto a s14? I understand things don't just simply bolt on. However, I would be very interested in knowing just how much work and what kinds of money are involved when converting the front end.

thanks again

hey, we should tell him that everything bolts right up just to see what happens.

using your lack of planning skills as a basis for judgement i am lead to believe that you don't deserve a 240 and should be kept away from most automobiles that are "cool".

Amen.

Even better advice, read what's just been written above, as people answered you already. Skimming over that and hoping someone will fly out and do it for you isn't going to happen.

i dont know where you came from, but go back asap.

the front end of an s15 is wider than an s14. so youd need to cut the center of the hood/bumper n weld/bondo/use man sauce and re attach it once trimmed to fit.

give up, and s15 front on s14 crimes are disgusting. you want an s15 so bad, go buy one.

otherwise keep the s14 and do it right...but you dont even have the car to put it on yet?

itll bolt on perfect onto a dc2

there is more work here then you wanna do trust me. and since you never mentioned a S15 SR20 with the clips, im guessing this is for show points. Have you done any research otehr then asking us for advice? I think your best bet would be to tlak to people on FreshAlloy... i would hate to see a Kouki get bastardized.

I love how this guys comes up with a well written post trying to disguise his ignorance.

the username "s15fullconversion".... thats classic right there.

My advice: go LOOK at the parts you own and figure it out for yourself. Or use some of that time you spent typing out your question to do 10 minutes of research where all of your questions have been answered 100x.

Actually the conversion isnt as bad as some here make it sound. Its awesome you have a clip and can see how everything went on from the factory.

The front fenders will bolt towards the front but will not match the curve at the front of the doors nor will it match the A pillar. You will need to cut the back portion off the S14 fender about 6" forward of the door to weld to the S15 fender after you have cut the back off of it.

The hood will bolt up with no modifications.

97-98 needs no core support mods to fit the lights. 95-96 will need either holes cut to clear the back of the S15 headlights or cut the factory core support off and weld the S15 support on.

There will be several brackets you can use off the S15 to make a nice clean conversion. The headlamp support bracket, the front bumper support can all be swapped from the S15 to the S14.

The front bumper cover will bolt to the S15 fenders and the headlamp support bracket keeping it nice and supported.

Best advice i can give is to not put a s15 front on ANY s14...........EVER. In fact what you should do is take those lights and buy the frontend to put them on an integra. Then add peices of bling and win the show circut.

Why the hate? I happen to like the look of the S15 front end. I love the look of the back end of the S15 also and if it were easy, I would do that conversion too. Hell, I would really like an S15 all together, but that probably wont happen any time soon.

Thanks for your opinion.

Angry Damn

You guys are all a bunch of fucking cocks. If the person does not know anything, they ask. But when a person ask you tell them to use the search. Well sometimes the fucking searches don't really give you what your looking for. Instead of helping each other out and assisting newbies you fucking curse at them. Treat them with disrespect and in the end they turn into assholes too. I see this shit in every forum with 240SX's and all other fucking cars. I hate this shit and grow the fuck up i may not post much but damn i read all this shit. Fuck is it hard for you to answer the damn question? NO its not but you will post some overdrawn out complaint of why they haven't used the search. Or better yet get on their case for their stupid ideas or dumb moronic plans or whatever a newbie might decide is nice for their own car. Is it your car? No. Do I care if you like it? Fuck NO! Its my car, as long as I fucking like it, screw you! Do I get on your case if you decide to buy some ugly ass hat, jacket, shirt or shoes? No thats your opinion. So if someone decides to rice their car out so be it. If they decide to jump on the drift bandwagon then so be it. If they decide to build a track or drag car. SO FUCKING BE IT. Let them be but if they ask for help then help them for they are asking for help not for a fucking verbal assault! Damn people I am done.

Honestly, there really isnt too much information out there on doing the S14.5 conversion. I searched and searched and there is just no good information and some mis-information or threads like this where everybody just rips on a person for doing it, wanting to do it, asking questions about it. Its all kind of sad. Do a search really quick and check for yourself. Check Google or Yahoo or whatever. Call the places that sell the parts and you will find a lot of them dont even know what all you will need. Honestly, wouldnt you rather see a nice informative post on how to do the S14.5 conversion well rather then another "hey, look at my new wheels" post? Isnt what this forum is about or is it only for those that KNOW everything already?

I was waiting for some of you guys to finish before putting up another post. Okay, to tell you the truth, my friend and I run a tuning shop. The majority of the work we do are engine swaps for another brand of vehicle and neither one of us have ever touched a nissan 240. I have had great interest in the 240 ever since I took one out for the test drive. For the last month or so, I have been doing research but it seems some of the info conflict with other sources when it comes to learning about converting the front end of a 240 with a s15. I am not new to car forums. A lot of people offer advice and don't even know what the hell they are talking about. I also happen to have a source in Japan which allows me to import my own complete cars and drivetrains. This is why I have a s15 without even owning a 240. Picking up a 240 is not very difficult as long as you have the money in hand. As for the board name, I made it up without even thinking.

thank you everyone for your time, enjoy your 240.

why should he be banned for speaking wats going on in this forum? hez right, why cant anybody juss type out the answer rather than typing them to search or some dumb smartass remark?

have you seen the search button? it doestn even stand out and looks the same as the rest. hell when i visit new forums they are all alike, and it takes a lookin around to find that sucker.

if you people dont have any idea on how to help or give advice, y even waste your time to post in the thread? does it make you feel like you have bigger balls if you flame a noob?

lets take a look at all the useless post...

hey, we should tell him that everything bolts right up just to see what happens.

using your lack of planning skills as a basis for judgement i am lead to believe that you don't deserve a 240 and should be kept away from most automobiles that are "cool".

stick to civics, kiddo.

i dont know where you came from, but go back asap.

the front end of an s15 is wider than an s14. so youd need to cut the center of the hood/bumper n weld/bondo/use man sauce and re attach it once trimmed to fit.

give up, and s15 front on s14 crimes are disgusting. you want an s15 so bad, go buy one.

otherwise keep the s14 and do it right...but you dont even have the car to put it on yet?

itll bolt on perfect onto a dc2

I love how this guys comes up with a well written post trying to disguise his ignorance.

the username "s15fullconversion".... thats classic right there.

My advice: go LOOK at the parts you own and figure it out for yourself. Or use some of that time you spent typing out your question to do 10 minutes of research where all of your questions have been answered 100x.

Best advice i can give is to not put a s15 front on ANY s14...........EVER. In fact what you should do is take those lights and buy the frontend to put them on an integra. Then add peices of bling and win the show circut.
