1990 240 engine question

hi guys, my name is Ivan and im a new member here..
i just recently bought 1990 240 (k24 Single cams) few months ago and i found out that engine burns oil and im planning to replace it with the DOHC. to be honest im JDM blind and i know jack about nissan. i talked to some guys about the swap but i just wanna make sure... my question is
- if u replace the motor with DOHC, is the tranny interchangeable? or i have to buy its own tranny?
- how hard is the swap?
- how much will i be looking for, to get everything running ( just a rough estimate for parts and labour)

thanks guys, any input will more than appreciated

Rule 1 - this is a hot topic lately, the search button is the third from the right, please use it...

Auto tranny would not interchangeable, manual yes so if you have an auto, now would be the time to swap... Plan on power steering lines, ECU and harness and all that other good shit, plan on a downpipe, be it OE or aftermarket, now would be a good time to go ahead and upgrade... Swap is not terribly difficult, as you have the internet for support
