Very quick EGR question

I know the fitting in the manifold for the EGR tube is m24 x1.5 thread.
My stupid question is will that same plug work on the other end of the EGR tube? I've had the tube plugged forever and it looks like crap, I don't care enough to spend the time removing the whole EGR valve and making the block-off plate... I'd just like to remove the whole tube and fire a plug in the EGR side.
If it's not the same size I'll just re-cut and weld the tube at the EGR side, but I'd rather just use the plug if I can?
Thanks

and BTW my car is still in storage for the winter 40 miles away so I can't exactly just go check for myself right now.
