Aluminum Racing Jack? Just wanna share...

At harbor Freight in So Cali has this big sale...
(dunno if its all but...)

Saw an Aluminum Race Jack made by US General for 79.99 20% off 99.99.

If any of you needed one, or a low priced one just thought I"d share.

Description in my ad:

Specifically designed 4-5/8" widgth, low profile, single front roller wheel for quick and accurate placement where you need it. Low profile 3" minimum saddle height comes with 360 degree rotating rubber pad to prevent marring."

Weight 24.2 lbs.

Get it. I use one for my AE86. It is the only one I can find that had a cradle low enough to fit under my car. Its a 3" cradle, and its barely fits under the car.

I would highly recommend getting the one that is 17 1/2" lift.. the 2 extra inches can make all the difference sometimes..

You should have checked Pepboys....They carry an aluminum/steel 2 1/2 ton jack for $60 bucks when it's on sale. It's made by Torin....
http://webpages.charter.net/idlafie/jack.jpg
Comes with four independant roller wheels instead of a single front roller and two rear wheels. It's a good jack for weekend mechanics like myself.
Anyhow, hope this helps...

I bought the $199 craftsman since I heard some bad things about the harbor freight unit. It is great.

my roommate bought one of those pepboys jacks, it worked fine for about 2 weeks, and now it wont lift anything.

this is what the other side of my 86 looks like when its jacked up all the way with one of those.

i am on my 4th craftsman aluminum racing jack, they are junk as far as i am concerned, and i dont abuse them either, maybe 3 lifts on the first one, and it started making terrible screeching sounds under any load (like the weight of a person)... the next 2 just wouldnt maintain pressure after about 6 lifts each...

i havent picked up the fourth one yet, but im hoping this one lasts a little bit longer for me!

Craftsman blows, I tried to return mine before I bought my HF one and they said NO becuase the general manager was out for the week, and the couldn't approve returns. Its just sitting in my room taking up space. JUNK!

HF Racing one is not low enough, it gets stuck on my sway bar if I don't use ramps before lowering the car fully. SOmetimes I have to remove my front bumper (today yesterday, anytime I work on my car) to get to accuratley function. Damn good for the price though, best jack I have bought. I wish I could still lift my car from the towhooks. And it can't slide underneath my crossmember.

That's not good to hear. It is the only one I've found to go under my jacking rails.
I've only done few oil changes with my aluminum craftsman jack. No problems so far even when I lift my cobra really high.
