i dont know if this has been coverd before but i just got my second speeding thicket withen 3 months, does anyone know how much the insurance will go up? i just want an average. my parents saying that mine will go up 2 times but i dont know yet.

well, for each point i got, my premium went up $500. so up to today, my insurance is $1500 higher than its supposed to be...learned my lesson... ... ...not really, i just hire a shady lawyer now...hehe

Insurance doesn't go up for TICKETS, it goes up for CONVICTIONS on those tickets... Send your lawyer down and those tickets will cost you nothing in terms of insurance

go to traffic school if you are eligible, meaning you have not gone for the past 18 months. otherwise, get a lawyer, and make sure they actually do something for you, as i have been fucked by a supposedly good one around my parts

Prepare to go to traffic school if you wish to not let the matter transcend and impede into your finances. Also, it would aid you spoke to the judge; I managed to not only get a bail reduction but also traffic school on a double the speed limit violation due to it being my first offense and my demeanor.
That or get a lawyer and be done with it.

Hey Keith (I hope i got your name right) its me Kenny..

I'm going to somewhat answer your question and offer you some advice.

Here's how it works. You get a speeding ticket. You go to court and plead your case or whatever. But you're guilty and you move on. You have a chance to go to traffic school to get that point wiped off your driving record.

Once you go to traffic school and blah blah blah. You get your paper work, show it to the court and then the court will tell the DMV, don't put a point on your driving record. NOW.. you gotta stay outta trouble and other tickets for the next 18 months, because thats how long you have to go before you get another chance to go to traffic school. So after your first ticket, every moving violation you get afterwards will appear on your record. Am I making sense?

NOW.. Heres the part not many people know. You get a second speeding ticket. Moving violation number 2. You're not exactly screwed. You can go to court and plead no contest. Then ask the judge for a 2nd chance to go to traffic school. Most judges, I would say, 99% would allow you to go to traffic school for a second time. By doing so, paying for traffic school is way better than paying higher premiums to your insurance.

Because it takes 18 months for 1 point to drop from your driving record. It doesn't matter what you did, the insurance looks at a speeding ticket or a running a red light ticket the same way. They see that point and will assign a higher risk to you.

You can expect a $100-$300 extra a year on top of what you're already paying. But all car insurances are different, so to get an exact quote. You would have to call your agent.

Ive had 5 and my insurance never went up the only time it has gone up was when I turned 25, I thought it was suspossed to go down?

i got a moving violation and wasnt allowed to do traffic court for another 9 months so i thought i was screwed, but i hired a credible (shady) lawyer and he got me traffic school II. basically a second chance like that other person said...theres always a way around...

you should almost always get a lawyer. my lawyer has gon't me out of so much shit it'sa not even funny, seriously, he's a friend too so he doesn't charge me much at all. i have no points on my insurance or my licence but my insurance agency will be raising my premium $200+ in august. i had an at fault accident when i was 17 where my car at the time was totalled and a PJC two years ago. insurance is a rip off. i'm changing companies come august
