Need help with thermostat!!!!

Ok i'm changing the thermostat right now but the new one is different than my old one. This new one has a hole in it with little brass looking thing hanging on it. How does it go back on the car??? Does the hole face up or down???

There's an arrow on the tstat. Place the valve on top, same on KA and SR. You knew this.
