Just to confirm, brakes question..

I have a JDM S14 silvia I am trying to buy some brakes from the USA!!! I have searched and this is what I have concluded.

I should ask for Front pads for a 300zx unsure sure of year?

In the rear 240sx s14 pads will do the trick yes?

Looking at getting some Project Mu B force just for aggressive street driving more then anything else.

Anyone confirm this to be correct and the particular year 300zx brake to get.

90-96' pads, I believe the pads are all the same, just the piston diameters in the calipers are different.

early 90' NA Calipers are made to be used with 26mm rotors Turbo and all NA's after 91 ones are made to be used with 30mm rotors. Brake pads will work with both 26mm or 30mm calipers, they are the same. I recommend Hawk HPS pads, or Axxis Ultimates but they dust alot.

Porterfield R4-S for street/light track/autoX

Also heard good things about Axis Ultimates and Hawk HP+

Cobalt Friction also rates highly

Ferodo is well thought of as well

Check eat company's different compounds to match what you do with your car, there are race compounds for track use that are nuts on the street (ask Turdz =) )

I have Axxis Metal Master brake pads on my Z32 brakes and I like them. They are fairly dusty over time but they grab hard.

They grab but they dont have a high MOT, so you will fade em fast on a track or hard driving, try Axxis Ultimates or Hawk HPS, they have a relatively high MOT for track and hard driving. Only thing i hate about Ultimates is that they dust like crazy! Hawks dont dust much though.

Porterfield-brakes.com (tell them you are a member of the online forums and you get a good discount, 20% iirc)

they sell porterfields in different flavors, and also the very popular Hawk brand.

Ive used PBR ceramic, and Hawk HP, and I find he PBRs much better once they're hot, and they dont produce the brake dust that the HP's do. Im a fan of both pads, but considering they'd cost the same, Id go with the PBR just from personal experience.- Rob

I second the porterfield's. They are awesome, I run them on all my cars (R4-S compound). I have used Hawk's before, but I get better feel with the Porterfields.

yea, 90-96 300zx pads will work. It's weird because 90-91 300zx=26mm pistons while the remaining years went with the 30mm yet the jdm s14 4 piston calipers are 28mm (correct me if i'm wrong but i'm pretty sure on this) and honestly i don't think the piston size matters much but just get some 300zx pads and you're good. Many choices out there so do some research on what type of pads you want and you're good.
