Starter Rebuild

My SR20 starter is broken and i was wondering if its possible to have a shop fix the starter instead of buying a new one, or if its possible for me to fix it myself. Any advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

we buy remanufactured starters and alternators from my friend's company. They arent that cheap and the only come with a 1 year warranty. Kragen is cheaper and comes with a lifetime warranty. Why do i still buy from my friend? Kragen stuff sucks. Literally 50% failure rate. I'd rather not do the labor twice. So people CAN rebuild starters. i dunno if YOU can. I can't

An auto shop should be able to rebuild it. It's usaly cheaper to buy a new one these days.

Just because you havent done it, does not mean you cannot do it. Its super easy, if you have any mechanical skill you can do it. Maybe just need to follow the instructions closely but yeah. Making a good steak is way more difficult

From what i remember...there are no USDM equivalent for a RWD SR20DET starter. I know the KA wont work, but people swap internals between the 2.

which is equivalent to rebuilding, except a rebuild you would use new parts.

so are you guys saying that KA starter internals are interchangable with the SR20det RWD starter internals?

My starter went out a few months ago and I just took it to a shop that rebuilds starters and alternators. I was in and out in 1 day and it cost me only $90 and they also gave me a 1 year warranty. That is what I suggest that you do.
