I have been thinking about this for awhile. I am looking for the Kazz 1.5 way. My car doesn't have a LSD in it now. Its a 97 SE with no ABS or LSD. All I need to do is buy the Kazz and install it right? Or is there more to it? What other parts do I need to do the install?

well to install a Kaaz your gonna have to put your ring and pinion gear in the Kaaz pumpkin. thats about 2 hours labor then you have to make sure the lash is correct or your ring and pinion will go boom .
then you have to get the right output flanges from Nissan for our cars because the Kaaz comes with the 5 bolt style flange and our cars have the 6 bolt and no you cannot put open differential flanges in a LSD differential.
thats like $260 for the flanges
oh yeah if it was in stupid street I would not trust what they say.
Also Kaaz's are known to click and chatter.
Quaifes are the way to go but they are big bucks .
just get yourself a VLSD and be happy lot cheaper easy to install no issues. Unless you are planning on taking your car on the track on a regular basis and mechanical limited slip on the street is overkill.

I had a silvia with a mechanical 1.5 way LSD and it wasn't a big deal to drive it on the street. It clicks alot but it wasn't a big deal

I have a 1997 240sx SE without abs (it had an open diff). I had a KAAZ 1.5 way diff installed. Everyone that I talked to recomended not doing it myself. So, I paid $340.00 to have it done.
The diff cost $731 from Digital Racer. It comes with the gasket, output bearings, and oil seals. You will also need to get side shafts off a 97 that had a vlsd (about $300 new). If you want to put KAAZ fluid in it that is about $50 more.
The KAAZ unit comes from the factory at full 100% lock-up. This is how I had mine installed. So, when I take slow turns my inside wheel skuffs. It's sorta like having welded axels. If you get one you might want to have some of the clutch plates removed to make it less aggressive. The guy who installed mine said that most factory lsd units have about 25% lock-up and this one has 100%. It is a racing differential and isn't really meant for the street (the instructions say to change the oil every 3000 km&#33. Also, the clutch plates wear down and have to be replaced. A Quaife unit might have a better design but I don't think they make them for s14a yet.

To tell if your car has lsd:
Jack up the rear end so wheels are off the ground. Have the car out of gear with the e-brake off. Turn one wheel by hand. If the other wheel turns in the same direction then you have lsd. If it turns in the opposite direction then you have an open diffenential.
I think vlsd was only available as an option if you already had abs. So no abs implies no lsd.
Also, there's supposed to be an orange sticker by the fill plug on the differential housing on vlsd units (or so I heard).
