s14 ka24de dont start, elec problm help

its a zenki, as i put the key in the ignition i get interior light, but as soon as I start turning the key it all goes dead.(on the first contact)

after about 1o seconds the int light goes off once again, I try it and same thing again...
do I have any shorts on the ground wiring? if yes which one could I try cuz I checked all the wires that leave the battery into the motor itself and I tried to look for the bunch but I could not see, cuz its parked on the streets.

i've searched but there is nothing
i looked in the bay area but everything seems ok
what is wrong?

BTW it doesnt crank, I tried to jump start it but I get the same results, which means its not the battery, the alternator nor the ignition.

if there are any other suggestions, throw them at me..

jack it up and check your starter ground

also check your battery terminals and make sure they're secure.. then go to the fuse box..

start checking all fuses and relays. Get out a multimeter and the FSM... If it's not a broken connection somewhere, you might want to check your ignition mechanism itself.

If I'm understanding this right, when you turn the key power cuts off. You have interior lights but nothing else? Power isn't getting to your starter, or you'd be able to crank the motor at least. So something electrical isn't right. This isn't my strong point, I'd take it in because it takes a long time to trace the sources of electrical error.

have you tried bypassing the starter relay. Try to isolate the electrical problem to a single component if possible when doing your tests. bypass the relay and start the car and see how things run. Your engine management system's running on the same power source as your car's lighter so if your engine runs the way its suppose to i'd look closer at the electrical components responsible for starting ignition.

ok.. may be I wasnt clear enough.. lets see, I open the door, the ceiling light turns on, so I guet that, and from now on that will be int light or IL.

I put in the key and and turn it to the first stop. radio goes off, so I do get sound for a split second and then everything goes dead.. the IL goes dead, and then after a min or 2 i start to get a dim IL and then it goes into full power again..
was that clear?

Might want to have your battery tested.

You could have a faulty ignition switch and/or blown fuses. Look at the fuse/relay box behind the battery. Do you hear any relay click when you put key in/turn key? It sounds like a bad battery IMO....

humm ok hold on.... I just thought of this:
if the whole electrical system goes dead and then it takes it a while to get back on track, there is something that just doesnt fit here..

I mean if the ignition switch was gone bad, then that should not affect the rest of the electrical system, should it? because I do have some downtime (or lag, whatever you wanna call it) in between trying to start and letting it get back to basic IL ...

so, Im totally lost.. any ideas?
I still will try the ignition switch... but just some food for thought...

so, i did change the switch, and now I hear a click (like I said in the previous post, but still nothing I checked all fuses, they are all in order. but then the relays on the driver sides, I havent checked those.. for I dont know what they are, and I dont have an FSM on me right now...

and once again im pretty sure it is not the battery, I get 12.5

old post, but i'm having the same trouble right now w/ my s13. I have to keep going out and play w/ the negative terminal on my batt. once i get power, i try starting the car and it shorts out. i repeat until i could get the car started. before this started happening, when i tried to turn the ignition, there would be a click and i would have to do it several times before it would actually start. snp ethan did you end up finding what was wrong?
