less caster?

it seems that most people run a lot more camber on their cars for stability. my friend owns an alignment machine so i tried running 5 degrees and it the car feels much more go-cartish with faster steering response. from what i understand, this decreases contact patch during turns, but the car just seems to slide easier. since i dont steer much when driving over 90mph anyway, i dont see much sacrifice in high speed stability. am i risking damaging or sacrificing anything with less caster?
