the switch behind the clutch pedal that when pushed in it allows the car to start, is stuck, go under there and see if you can fool with it

Maybe its an automatic, with a 5 speed gearbox, and you have a clutch.
If the switch was stuck, then that means the clutch is engaged. So then wouldn't he NOT be able to move at all?

For some reason I think all Canadian s13's and S14's came from the factory that way. Not sure on the reasoning but my bros' '91, my mom's '93 and my '95 all don't need the clutch to be depressed.

Maybe it is just a US only requirement?

As far as I know...you dont have to depress the clutch to start any JDM s13's, s14's, or s15's nor on my EUDM 200sx s13.

This is very true, no need to worry or to go searching around, just enjoy being able to start the car through the window from outside the car.

Wouldn't an auto ECU substitution also yield the same results?

no, because i have an auto ecu for my SR and i still had to depress the clutch, i don't think that switch goes through the computer... just a ground thing like the ebrake light.. but a current... i dunno but if you look under there you can push a button in and start the car w/o pushing the clutch in..

The neutral safety switch or clutch interlock switch is tied in to the start terminal of your starter, it does not have anything to do with the ECU. If you can start it without pushing the clutch in I would assume the only reason to be shorted switch or stuck/broken.

is it really a problem that you can start the car with the clutch out? just make sure it isn't in gear when you start it...

Also if you just disconnect the plug from the clutch switch and bridge it, you won't have to press the clutch in anymore. That's what I did in my honda so I'm sure it's the same. It's just a safety feature.
