I bought a 91 240SX Tuesday and I wanted to see if it had a LSD so I burnt out and it left rubber from both wheels. But I thought all the S13s didn't have anytype of LSD. I'm not sure what model my car is, but I think it's probably the lowest of the hatchbacks. No sunroof, power windows or locks, ABS, or spoiler.

I'm kind of new with this type of car, I had the real deal 300Zs (88T & 90TT), but I wanted to give the SR20 a try.

It is possible to break enough traction to get an open diff to spin both wheels.. If you don't have HICAS then you don't have LSD.. UNLESS someone installed it afterwards.

same thing happened in my friend's '92.... I'm thinking that his open-diff at least thinks it's a VLSD, so I'm going to try swapping it into my car (he just bought a HICAS diff to replace it to make sure he has VLSD) and see how it goes

I've done it in my 92 as well. escpecially if the ground is a little wet. I can get both wheels to go crazy. But, alas, it's not always that way. About 2 weeks ago, I got a little wild hair up my ass, b/c my friend started smoking the front tires of his RSX off.. (empty parking lot) SOoo.. I couldn't let him show me up. I put it in reverse, and start rolling back at about 2-3 mph, put it back in first, run the rpm's up to about 4500-5000rpm, and let her rip, foot in the floor. It was a QUITE spectacular one leggeg smoke off. SPun through first, hit second and spun all the way through second, and then chirped 3rd. His jaw was on the floor in aww of the mighty peg legged power of the 240. lol

yeah, but in my friend's '92 I did 2 burnouts.... both of them left completely equal length strips!!!!

I even held it still for a bit using the brake (left foot sidestep the clutch and get right on the brakes with the right foot floored on the gas, then lock the front wheels with as little braking as possible. fucks the rear brakes up, but uhh.... it's not that bad ). I swear that car has VLSD...

they're like $200 around here.... my friend got his for $230, and I've seen J30's as low as $150 ('95+ ).

I'd rather spend that on swaybars though

I'm probably gonna get my swaybars as a present. so, I might spend the money on an LSD. I can't find one that cheap though. Always 300-350. The rear pinion seal on my Diff is leaking, so that'll give me a reason to just replace the whole thing. lol

the way to check if you really have LSD is to jack up both rear tires and spin one of them. if the other tire spins the same direction then you have LSD (or at lease that's how we did it for hondas, not sure for nissans)

er wrong it was an option on all years if the person ordered . I have been over this in the past in 89-90 Nissan paperwork shows the possibility of it being only availible with Hicas after 90 it was an option that could be ordered and you did not have to have HICAS to get . Me and Alex Chang have discussed this at length on the net and at Meets.
