Arrrrg...basically, I've narrowed it down to 2 choices for getting a 240: a 1991 240 fastback, or a 1995 240 w/S14a front end. I have no idea what to get. I love how the S14a looks, but I think the hatchback is growing on me (hmmm...I loved how my hatchback teg looked, maybe I'm a hatch guy). Are there any noticeable advantages/disadvantages to each? I am planning on swapping in an S14 SR20DET (It'll pull a premium at race wars... ) to either, so engines don't count. I have a few questions:

1)Can the fastbacks headlights be converted to the JDM S13's headlights? I know the tails can,b ut I don't know about the headlights.

2)Does the fastback handle better than the 1995-98 240's?

3)Are parts easy to get for a fastback?

Thanks guys!

which S13 headlights?? pretty much all S13 parts are interchangeable in some way.... (besides a fastback rear on a coupe, but that's besides the point?).

parts should be easy to get for the S13.

as far as handling between the 2.... I like the S14 as it feels more controlled... but my old S13 was just such a toss-able car.

I think a lot of people have gone through the same situation. They began likeing the S14 and disliked the S13 (usually because of the pop up headlights). Then, I swear we always use the same word, the S13 "grew" on us. Then they buy the S13. But usuallyt S14s r harder to find, and s13s are cheaper, so the extra $3K-$6K you have left after getting the S13 instead of S14 you can spend on some go fast mods.

lol, Bbandit, no prob. 96 LS. I had big plans for it...at first, I wanted to go N/A, but too much work...then supercharging, but the B18B is apparently a terrible platform for it, and then LS/VTEC, but I heard there is too much room for error if you don't know what you're doing...then I moved on to turboing. But I figure that selling the teg for $7K, buying a 240 for $3-4k and then turboing it will be cheaper than going all out on my teg, hehe. Here's a quick pic of a recent wax:

Woulda looked nice with a big front mount intercooler, hehe. Ever hear about team-integra.net? Great place.

Anyways, enough with reminding 240 owners of previous cars. As for the headlights...I've never been a big fan of flip-up headlights, but I've never had a car with em...I know they seem bright as hell, because most of em point straight ahead and not angled to the ground, at least my friends' Probe is like that. By S13 headlights, I meant the Japanese front w/headlights.

KiDyNomiTe, that's exactly what happened...I wasn't even really considering the S13, but now, it is really starting to grow on me. A shiny black 240 fastback or a nice silver one...mmmm...

Will the SR20DET fit into the fastback, or is it a different platform?

Actually, I first got interested when someone at team-integra.net was considering selling their teg for an S13 or S14 with the SR20, and everyone really approved of it. Even the guys at Honda-tech loved the SR20DET. I pretty much ignored those posts until I discovered that I could save a couple thousand by selling my teg and turboing a 240. That, and my cousin had a hot 97 240

Hmm, I guess it would make sense to ask the guy named SR20Fastback some questions on fitting the SR20 into a fastback...

What problems did you run across with fitting? Which model SR20DET do you have? Do you autocross or drag, or neither? How much did your setup cost you? Thanks!

There are no problems getting the sr in the s13.

It was meant to be in there! Just never made it to the party over in the states. Anyway I have a s13 redtop w/ the smic and its faster than the two, count them, two turbo hondas (civic and teg) that are in my area.

Some here will endorse putting a turbo on the KA and boosteds14 is making like 450hp+ w/ his. The option is yours. I love my redtop and wouldn't trade it for the world.

if you mean by "jdm" headlights the silvia headlights...then yes...they are easily exchanged and you'd have a sharp lookin sil80. People do it with their ugly ass s13 usdm coupes to make them purty

I was thinking about just turboing the engine that came with it...but I don't know, I'm not planning on going about 300whp, and the SR20 will serve this purpose. And something about a stock turboed engine will make me sleep better at night. Just makes me feel like it's a bit more reliable because it was designed for boost. That's ultimately why I didn't turbo the teg (need too much money to make it really reliable). But that doesn't mean I'm gonna cut corners with the SR20, of course

I hated the understeer in my teg. The only time I was able to get it to drift was on a dirt road with a 110 degree turn, lol.

The fastback has this sort of smooth, sexy look that i really like, hope the Silvia headlights will look good on it.
