Dead Wires? Pics:::

I have no idea what these wires are for. I'm trying to clean up the wiring job here and behind the center console is a whole snake of what looks like dead wiring.

I have included pictures, 95 se.

The wires seperate from the bunch I pulled out for viewing (and labeled) are to the lighter plug.

The wires go up and behind my column and behind the dash near my cluster and then I cannot follow them any more.

If you need more details let me know, I can take more pictures.

Zilvia.net does not have infinite badnwidth to host all your pictures. You are better off using an outside hosting site. I recommend www.imageshack.us Once you have hosted it there, copy and paste the link here for others to view.

holy rats nest...looks like previous owner had headunit, amps, speakers, whatever in a wire mess...many of those may be totally useless... by location of the wires i would guess they are all audio related..do not see any sign of an OEM harness besides audio

These pictures show the plugs better.
By the way, I found a constant source through this whole cluster.
It was once again the orange/green.
These wires are OEM judging by color.

Oh and the green tape is me seperating everything... Keeps me sane

haha shock yes i have. The problem is I don't ussually wake and get up till 2 or 3 and it gets very dark at 5 and my garage lighting sucks for looking.

But if you look in the 2nd picture I posted (at the top) you can see that they are strapped with that OEM harness, it flows all the way up behind the steering column and I could not follow it after that. Its 430 AM right now hopefully I'll get to bed before 5 and wake in time for the lighter hours and see what I can find.

Later

^ Looks like wires for your headunit. They probably installed an external amp which powered your stock speakers. It gets really hairy when they do that. Most of those wires you can cut out if you have a headunit with a built in amp. Even better, if you have a pre-amp headunit (headunit w/o a built in amp) then you can get rid of all those wires and keep only a few (remote turn on, pos, negative) and run RCA cables to your amp. Have fun with it

Could be alarm or audio. Remove anything aftermarket. Problem solved.

Honestly, it's not that hard to figure out what doesn't belong unless you're the kind of guy who eats glue.

lol. Ok, these wires aren't aftermarket as they are labeled as such:
"Negative Dimmer"
"Illumination"
"Amp Ground"
"Power Antenna"
"Memory"
and some others, including speakers.

I'm just sick of this huge clump of wires behind my center console and I'm trying to clean it out so for future wiring I can see what I'm doing.

Okay, so I was cutting and my guage cluster lights stopped working. I cut in front of that big plug I pictured. one wire leads through to the second plug and continues and the rest are dead, but it actually does something. I wired all the wires back up except for these three blue ones which I can't discriminate from because they are all the same color. My clock light works when my lights are off but when headlights are on the bulbs behind the guage face do not go on. The parking brake light and door light and such still work.

In the interior fuse box my "12V" fuse and my "Hazard Lamp" fuse was blown. If the hazards were blown that would explain why the wires to the hazards were previously spliced...

I don't even know if I can ask or get help for this issue. I just fucked up and I'll try to get find a way to fix it.

Anyone got a wiring diagram that would include the wires that illuminate the guage cluster?
Other than that, nothing is wrong.
Thanks

Wow, I noticed that the orange of my headlights don't work and my back lights don't work. I found the wires for both my guage illumination and my front / rear lights... Now I don't know where to wire them.
The only thing near is a constant or ignition activated wire and that would mean my guages are always illuminated and my lights always on.

When you cut the wires, you are susposed to cut one by one, and not a bunch of them at once.

Most likely you've blown a fuse.

Checked every fuse, replaced the blown ones... Something is wired wrong. If I touch ends of one wire to a 12v source the cluster illuminates and the clock turns off.

If I touch the end of the tail light/orange light wie too a +12v source they turn on and my clock goes off.
Something's wired wrong.

I also found out the wire that controlls my power antenna as it had never worked.

You think if I took the dash off and got a hold of the source of these wires I could figure something out?
