o2 sensor

hey anyone have experiences with a universal bosch o2 sensor for their zenki s14? im debating whether to get the bosch one for $40 or an OEM one for $80. Would it make a big difference or can i get away with a universal one?

If its a one wire, shouldn't be a problem. If you know people you can get a 1 wire o2 sensor for $15-17 . My 1 wire 02 sensor's wire is too damn short though.

^^^didnt i get that for you?

If you have a 95, your 02 sensor is 1 wire. Get a universal. If you have a 96 its 3 wire. The only difference is that the "OE" 02 sensor comes with the plug, universals just provide you with a splice and crimp deal.

is there any performance differences between the universal and OEM? i think the universal that i found had like 3 wire.
im not 100% positive but ive seen a 1 wire, but within that 1 wire theres 3 wires. so how do i know what is truly a 1 wire or 3 wire? just need that cleard up a bit. thanks

no, it will not perform better just because it has a clip...if youre talking about the primary o2, manuals are one wire and automatics are three...

i have a 98 180sx front clip with a manual 5 speed redtop and 3 wire 02 sensor. Can anyone explain this to me. Everything looks factory and the motor had never been out of the car"no marks on any bolts"?

The previous statement is incorrect about 1 wire and 3 wire O2 sensors they have nothing to do with your tranny. 1 wire is an unheated O2 sensor and 3 wire is a heated O2 sensor. All SR's are 3 wire heated O2 sensors. Having the heated O2 sensor gets the sensor up to temp faster providing better cold start economy and better gas mileage because the temp of the sensor will stay at the operating temp of the sensor, this where the sensor needs to be at to read O2.

In the FSM its listed under Engine Control (ECU), you will find operation description, circuit diagram, and troubleshooting. Also you will be able to find the circuit diagram by going into Electrical and going through the various diagrams.
