P4rD0nM3 and me both live in parts of colorado that don't even have emissions testing. so yeah, move out of that damn state j/k of course because again, i'd love to move back.

also isn't there a deal in CA where you can "appear" just by sending a writen statement, and then if you don't like the decision, you can appeal, and then actually show up?

"Dear Mr. Schwarzenegger,
I recently purchaced things I knew weren't road legal for my car. Now an officer has pulled me over. Is there anything you can do to legalise my car and make it so I as well as countless other californians can pollute and disobey they law?"

So well put Mel. It seems like out of state people and even in state people still have not figured out that basically any of the preferred installs of Japanese engines into our cars are illegal, all over the U.S. regardless of emission laws, period!
The moral here is, if your going to do something thats illegal, your going to have to live with the consquences of possibly getting caught for it.
Does that mean we condone all crime? No. Does it mean we rationalize a reason for us having some undeniable right to break the law? Well some of the people on this board feel that way. I can honestly say that yes I know and yes if I get stopped well shit I pay. I can also honestly say that yes I run a hi flow cat. Why? I feel that at least I can try and keep the car on the clean side so I am breaking the law in spirit but trying to do my part to keep the air clean. I am sick of the people inside of California and outside of California straight up disregarding emissions and emission output laws because they just don't like them. Man what a bunch of selfish shit. Global warming is a reality, we are on the front lines of the future of our world and our possible childrens world. The least we can do is at least try to keep our engines from putting out tons of crap. That said, yes I do not like the idea of atmospheric blowoffs.
Do I agree with the visual inspections? No. Though they are here and I have to live with that. At least I have a bit of peace of mind knowing I am doing something about my tailpipe emissions.
If you don't like a law, go to the democratic way. Write your congressman, get involved in politics, get petitions and circulate them for getting bills to change the rules, talk to Sema and participate.
Don't and a big don't just sit bitch and then break them and then cry how its wrong and you protest by just not even trying to do your part or participating in the process to change laws.

dave the ozone hole is gonna patch itself up anyways with time, we're prolly not going to be here to see it so meanwhile i'm going to enjoy the smog illegal flame throwing vroom-vroom :-) i look at it on a brightside as well.. hybrid cars are increasing like there is no tomorrow, i would not be surprised if they become the industry standard which in return will reduce pollution even further leaving us the hooligans only a small fraction accounted for destruction.. practically not even a concern to the environment :-) and yes i agree with the fact we live in the anally picky state of CA where we drive our cars like scared rabbits looking everywhere to see if there is a cop around.. then when you get popped u look for a second job to pay for a ticket! hahaha

p.s. i'm just fuggin with you DAVE!

well gee, let me see. If Joe runs into traffic on the freeway and gets a kick out of it, yet manages not to killed, I should do it to for the thrill of it? Not. I.E. your China analogy is just plain stupid and right up there with our current goverment that would not sign the Kyoto accord to cut down on global pollution.
Let me see, we are the worlds largest super power and we contribute 1/3 to the global condition pollution wise. So your reasoning is if China and third world nations don't do it we should not either. Well lets just accelerate down the road to our own demise a little faster in the name of corporate oversight and greed and choke ourselves on the way. Not.
Regardless of what other countries do or do not do the U.S. plays the role of world leader whether its liked or not. If we are going to do that we have to do that in every facet. Otherwise the other countries do not see a reason to do it themselves aka lead by example.
It is the U.S.'s obligation to the rule we have assumed that we need to do that. Otherwise no one agrees nothing gets done and we all die faster and our children are left with a world they cannot live in. You have great forsight. NOT!!
California is hated by a lot of you, just because it chooses to lead by example, in the pollution department. I know you guys don't like that. Fact is though and I have said this before, we have cleaner air now than 30 years ago for the sake of it.
I stated it before I will state it again, I have a cat on my RB car a high flow cat, why? Its the least I can do so there is cleaner air. Now if you guys are so self centered and egotistical, to not be able to care one iota about your fellow man or your possible children, well then you guys need to stop smoking your own crack and wake the fuck up.

Good thing the cop didn't remember, because he should've towed your car and given you a driving infraction for still driving it.

You better ref your car and pay the fines, or else you're going to be getting points on your license.

That was not my reasoning, i meant was that even if you have a lot of emmision laws. On a Global Scale. It wouldn't matter as much becuase you do have those third world nations, who don't regulate it. Therefore on a world stage, will having one state with strict emmission laws affect global warming. Mostly not because there are other places in the world that have no emmision restrictions and still use leaded gas. As a matter of fact the Ozone hole has actually gotten bigger since i think 2003. Also you do have to take in consideration the rapid industral growth of places like China. In a decade or so they will use almost just as much resources as the United States and have the same amount of pollution. So on a global scale how much cleaner will our planet be. You said America controls 1/3rd of the pollution. What about the other 2/3rds? Yes we can lead by example. Yet how is that possible when most of Europe, after we invaded iraq, disagrees with our government and our policies. Let alone some people in our own governement think global warming is a myth. So im saying is it really worth it to have strict emmision laws? Not even the whole country abides by them and on a world scale will it even have an impact. Yes it will slow down global warming hopefully. But isnt global warming inevitable, since more countries are indrustrializing. Therefore polluting. We're only stalling the inevitable so you might as well stretch your legs alittle. Most people will probably not see global warming or pollution take dramatic effect on the climate in there lifetime anyway. so why do you bitch about it? Things tend to change. One year the air will be clean. One year it wont. Half the time you dont notice. so why does it matter?

People like you are the reason why this place isn't getting any better.

It's funny how everybody can read between the lines and make since of what they want. But still fail to notice that EMISSION MODS ARE ILLEGAL. No matter what you say or nor matter how much you whine on zilvia, you arn't going to make what you want legal.

Do I think visuals are fair? No, but I'm going to be a man and deal with that fact.

You people knew what you were getting your selves into the second you started modding your car.

Then to make matters worse you come on here whining about the laws and complain that there is no way out of it. The law isn't dumb.

Just incase you forgot, 1/3 is quite a bit. That's ALOT of pollution that we could be cutting out.

The poeple who don't believe in global warming are idiots. There are facts/proof it is in existance. How do we know that, summers and winters are beginneing/ending sooner. I'm not going to rant and rave on about global warming.

But know you've seen smog. Now just think to your self, do you really think that is healty to be breathing in? I sure as hell don't. But I have people like you to thank for my sooner death.

So you just tried to rationalize your way out of taking responsibility for your own actions.
See the problem lies in your own thinking. People like you don't want to take responsibility in doing your part, instead you want to sight reasons for being a wimp and not standing up.
Major problem with a lot of people today! No one wants to take responsibility for their own actions they want to blame everything on everyone else, as reasoning for not doing the right thing. You fail on a ethical and moral scale, with your arguements.
Being cynical does not give one a right to do the wrong thing. Two wrongs do not make a right.
If we are going to change things, we have to change person by person till it builds up. You seem quite happy in just giving up, your a loser for that.
Take responsibility for yourself and start caring for someone else, than just your own selfish ass.

lol i have one point on my record now and he did remember me but cut me some slack since i told him its my only car to goto school and back and i was in the process of seeking legal advice why its illegal to have aftermarket parts(b.s i know but i didnt get my car towed) so he didn't tow it but if i get caught again its automatic three points, impounded car and suspended license.
so yeah im screwed

hmm is it me or can zilvia can be summed up into about about 5 stickies

a) hood popped discussion
b) wheel fitament question
c) SR bogging
d) sr not starting
e) i crashed my car what should i do now (aka the flame fest)

imagine the bandwidth that would be saved!

OT
i was wondering, for those that exclusively track their car, im looking to get a daily driver and just track my S14 but i cant find anything on the DMV website about off-road vehicle regulations. do you register it as non-op? I thought maybe you could, but that says that you are not even allowed to tow the vehicle on public roads...so i thought maybe there is some other title you can register it as?

Seriously, this thread was about what the OP can do about his situation. Notice he wasnt whining, bitching, etc. he knows the consequences and is trying to find ways to deal with it. No need to make this a whole emissions thread becuase that wasn't what it was intended for. It was made to seek advice on how to go about with the ref ticket and possible serve as hlp for others in the future. GL with the fight friend.

It's been answered, others just wanted to avoid the truth.

Answer, swap back to a ka or pay the fine and get a point on his/her license.

People who register their track car can choose to either non op, or recreational vehicle. Neither will allow you to run them on the streets.

ok so how am i not taking responsibility for my own action when my car is stock and i have everything to pass emmisions. I don't plan on violating that law. Im just saying you have to keep in mind. The whole picture. For example, how could you say my arguments arent moral. What is morality. I bet you if i lived in a diffrent society like Iraq. It would be moral to bomb America. Now you see there are 2 sides to every argument. Im just sayin theres a whole picture

thanks !zar!

after a while it made sense to me, by tow on roads they meant the tires cant touch, but if you put it on one of those trailers, i guess that would be fine and dandy.
