KA Question for turboKA owners

I have been looking for a quality turbo kit OTHER than GReddy. Recently i have found one which includes a garret t3/t4 turbo and can run safely at eight psi and between 8-10 psi, they claim about 260-280hp depending on how "free flowing" the exhaust is. Tell me what you think about the kit. AN SR IS NOT AN OPTION FOR ME!

looks like theres a good chance that the manfold will be a pain to work on (bolt accesibility) but i guess as long as it doesnt crack it doesnt matter all that much. I really like the jgs manifold, its very easy to get to bolts and not that expensive. Jgs sells a kit that you might want to look into but it doesnt come with intercooler and fuel management so you still have to get some stuff. Oh and if you were planning on using that fmu that came in that kit for fuel management, pm me and i'll save you some time and come pick up your motor before its blown. Invest in a good tune, it will be well worth it in the long run.

Greddy kit isn't quite quality...

Best bet is to build a setup on your own. You'll be happier in the long run.

^ Agree, build your own setup. Then you should actually know what you are talking about when someone asks about your car. Can also cost less.

I agree with you, I would lke to build my own setup, but I do not have any welding knowledge and part selection is a big problem for me..... (help!) When it comes to buying parts that would normally come in a kit, I tend to try to get the best of everything. I usually go over my budget and give up on the idea. No One I know has experience with the turbo ka in the 610 area code. I would like to skip the whole trouble-shooting process, i guess. plus ...Being a newbie to turbo ka's, I would not like to KA-boom my engine. haha

I've been reading up on KA-T.org alot lately. Very useful with all the info you want about turboing your ka. Ask anyone on zilvia and they'll refer you there but there is a sticky about ka-t in the Zilvia tech section.

So-ah you ah-like deh kit? It will make sexytime? So obvoiusly a boost gauge is necessary, but what about injectors? high volume fuel rail? Apexi air/fuel controller?

you're going to need a lot of random parts here and there if you build your own setup. its a good idea to though, knowing whats in it. check out some of the mod lists people have done to their own cars, it should help give you an idea of what to do

Z32 maf is not necessary i know a few people that use a stock maf and i used to use a N60 maxima maf which is alot cheaper than z32.
I agree with what a few people said, ive seen and driven on the greddy kit and i like my setup that I pieced together better, plus it was cheaper than greddy. The greddy kit semms to be a good option for those in California though since its carb legal. I dont know that its possible to completly skip the trouble shooting stage unless you've done a ka-t before. odds are there will be some little thing that you looked over so yeah, be sure to leave time for that. I still think that the jgs stuff is worth a look even though i dont run their kit, its a pretty good deal and it still leaves you with options for fuel control (imo Rom tune is by far the easiest... Enthalpy, JWT, etc.)
I personally run a enthalpy tune and love it. Afr's are spot on.
This is the manifold I use. Seems to be a good option for those that dont wanna spend the money for somethign like a full race or ams manifold.

No the Greddy kit is not carb legal. It was pending but Greddy never followed through with carb. The E.O. sticker costs a company 10k per year once they get approval. There used to be a legal stage 1 kit on the market years ago but the company that made it dropped they E.O. because it was costing them to much money per year for the amount of stage one kits they sold.

the town im from in PA is not too strict with there carb laws... i got kind of lucky. They mainly care about exhaust decibels. I think I saw that kit you were talking about. It wasnt turbonetics? was it?

Thanks for the link. I didnt know that company existeed. Google seems to only list GReddy turbo kits!... I think the pay them with all of the money they make off of their cheap kits.

yea i just finished building my own turbo setup just last month for about ~$1700 (with a t25 turbo, with t3/t4 i assume it'll be a little over 2gs). But i know my setup is good and i got a lot of other sht that kits don't offer like wideband and emanage. go here on ka-t forums http://www.ka-t.org/forums/viewtopic.php?t=6263
and you can start sourcing the parts yourself.

p.s. as for the kit, everything looks pretty good except i didn't see a part that says it includes injectors.. cuz u'll need bigger ones. and you might want wideband to be safe. price is a little high for what it gives you just like any other kits, but i think you'll end up saving a lot of money building your own setup imo.
