Yes all mechanicals do have a thin tube. Get an autometer electronic for 50 or so dollars. Use an adapter from Nissport and is an adapter that tips to the stock sender location. Clean and easy and please tighten the hex caps on the sides when you buy and all products are CNC'ed. Nissport is awesome and no I don't work for them.
