Extended wheel studs/lug nuts
I'm looking to purchase some nismo extended wheels studs for my silvia.. as some of mine are toast. So i'm thinking i may as well replace them all with extended ones as i run pretty big wheels on the car. Now i think the 50mm length should work fine for me.. with 14.3 Knurl in the front and 13 knurl in the rear.. as i have a s14 5 lug conversion. I'm also considering getting the rays extended lug nuts.. but im hearing alot about them stripping. Can anyone shine some light on this? Any feedback is appreciated. Thanks.

Mine are chipping and pitting and I've taken my wheels off once since I got them, I'd look elsewhere

You can use ARP studs inplace of the nismo ones for half the price. check out the 2.5" long chevy/gmc studs on there website. same curl for the rear you just have to get 1.5x12 lugs which you are changing anyways. Thats what I run front and back on my s13.

Don't waste time and money with the garbage aluminum Rays lugs. Get some steel open-ended lugs for a fraction of the price and enjoy the peace of mind.
Aluminum nuts WILL strip out if you over-torque them, and are sensitive to heat. For these reasons, some tracks won't even let you pass tech with them. |

yeah... get steel nuts...
I currently have 5zigen nuts.. and I've managed to strip like 2 so far (from one fucked up thread on peak performance studs... ugh.. don't get them, the studs I mean, lol) [FLICKR]http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2199/2140060191_9fa248a6c9.jpg[/FLICKR] anything aluminum will strip.. or can strip.

Great exactly what i needed. Fuck aluminum.. pay $150 for a pair of fucking lugnuts that strip real easy.
So who makes steel open ended extended lug nuts? Muteki seems to be the prime runner now.. good price.. are they steel or aluminum 2 versions? What material are the SR48's made of? Last edited by BlitzRPS13; 05-05-2008 at 09:21 PM.. |

I use the Muteki lugs. I have had them for over two years with no problems at all. I have had to replace the key once...other than that, they are great. I don't know what material they are made out of though.
No chipping, no stripping or anything like that. I also use the Ichiba studs and they work just fine as well. For $2 a pop. No, i don't track my car...but thats my experience with them.

Sorry can't bring myself to run obx lugs.. fuck obx.. worst company ever.
My car is highly modified.. all high quality stuff.. i wanna keep it that way. Muteki SR48's seem to be a legit option. |

I don't mind doing it all by hand. I just want a lug nut that isn't a total piece of shit especially when your spending $150+ on them. Muteki SR48's look pretty good.. most people have been saying they are quality. I usually wouldn't buy muteki.. but hey.. only like $60 shipped.. so i could go through 2 sets before 1 sets of rays.
