Hello,
Ok so I m in an engine rebuilld class at school, we are curently taking apart my engine,sr20det redtop.

titanium springs
and bored 20 over

now this is as far as i have gotton soo far.

Now my question,
I want to be able to use this as a daily(well as much as possible with 272 cams), and my goal is a fun 400-500whp mabye more. Now i was thinking for using t2871r, roomate say use gt35, seen the gt3071r tiwn scrol I was wanting turbo advice and set up's that work for u all, and what u suggest for me.

The word Daily and 400-500hp isnt the best combo. However im not sure on the turbo but that engine sounds pretty solid. The twin scrolls are pretty awesome!

BTW What do you me FOUND some nice things in there? Did you not put those things in the engine?

Why cant you daily a 400-500hp car? I daily my car...dont see a big fucking deal specially when you dont drive like an idiot and stay off boost.

Anyways, back to the OP, 272 Step 2 HKS cams will be somewhat lopy so you're idle wont be as smooth. To give you an idea, Im running a 272 Tomei Procams, GT3582R, PFC D-jetro on 850cc SARD injectors to begin with.

Also, here's a Dyno sheet from MasterChief...we're both running similar setups right now as far as turbo and tune.

What you're gonna need to figure out if you decide to do is your transmission. Stock SR trannies wont last you. Im running an RB25 transmission and he's running a Z32 TT tranny (they are the same internally).

I actually had these injectors because I got them for cheap. I got them for $300 brand new vs $550 for Nismo/Tomei 740. It worked out better since I'd probably be close to maxing out 740s if I have them. I got a buddy out here whos running a TD06-25G and he's hitting over 90% duty with those. 850s should give me some leeway since I figured were sitting around the same HP.

So are you shooting for 400, 450, or more like 500+?
You want your car to be more responsive or you want the huge boost feeling?
But daily without A/C is not cool. So I guess bottom mount maybe your better choice. Go check out the GT2871R thread. There's also a guy did a GT30 something bottom mount.

fliprayzin240sx: he said not the best combo, not not doable. Do not get piss off.

you can go top mount with AC. Just have to find the right manifold.

Daily driving it could be done but I'd recommend against it. Maybe its because I am "old" but I couldnt daily drive a 240 anymore.. even in stock trim.

I like the feeling of sitting on a couch that my maxima gives me when i am driving to work in the mornings..lol

What the fuck are you talking about? Did you even read the whole thread and info I've given him before you spouted this crap? He said he wants 400-500whp, I told him wassup and what to expect. Already told him not to go bottom mount since it wont be feasible for what he's trying to achieve and bottom mount T2 flanged GT3071R FUCKING SUCKS!!!

You asking about single/twin scroll for the turbo or the manifold? Basically, you'd only want to run a twin scroll turbo if you have a twin scroll manifold. Twin scroll manifold is basically a manifold thats has 2 seperate exhaust flow. 2 cylinder per side. The idea is that it helps keep the turbo spooled up and keeps it more efficient with 2 chambers spooling the turbo.

Firs of all you should have searched. I am getting sick of seeing all of these (what should I do with my life threads)

GT2871R wont even get you to the 400 WHP level, unless your car is being tuned on a dyno jet and you are maxing out the turbo at 22-24 PSI and you're using alchohal or meth injection on the motor and even then it's a toss up depending on how well themotor was put together.

GT3076R is a 450-520 WHP Turbo. It will make 550 WHP on dyno jet but dyno jets are jokes I dont even consider them real dynos any more. You will need 264 STEP 2 cams + Haltech or even more advanced EMS, 8-12 hours of serious dyno tuning and a very large throttle body, lightened drive-train and suepr heavy duty clutch.

Honeslty to hit your goal effectively you will need a GT35R turbo. You will need a large Surge style racing intake manfiold. It should be pre-flanged for the Q45 throttle body which you will be needing. You will need to run 264 STEP 2 HKS cams (if you use 272 your car will not spool up until 5200 RPMS). Your car will be extremely peaky so in order to counter for this you will need to lighten the drivetrain (flywheel, clutch, driveshaft) and you will need a heavy duty 1.5 way clutch type LSD to actually put the power down well. I suggest you use the Tomei EMS system, I offer remote tuning package and the tomei unit is extremely easy to tune remotely. This is the only turbo that will actually get you to 500 true WHP on the SR, and ABSOLUTELY the only Turbo that will get you close to 500 whp on daily driver pump gas. Your power band will be from 5000-8000 rpms. Make sure you re-shim your head.
