Since you say the pics are 7 years old or so, have any pics of how looks now?

Well, I have this ^ picture of how it looked some time after the two tone picture was taken, I actually painted it with real automotive paint in my back patio.
But to answer your question, if you want to see a more recent picture of this car, just Google "Risky Devil 180sx"

i know this pic has been adjusted, but that car is sick, especially for a rattlecan.

So i'm in the process of painting my car with Rustoleum professional in gloss white. I did the first coat and it looked great, so i wet sanded it and went for the second coat and almost instantaneously there's shitloads of fisheyes everywhere. So i tried to cover it up by spraying more paint and now it's cracked/wrinkled the first coat i did. What am i doing wrong? Maybe i didn't clean it well enough, or maybe it's cold in my garage? any thoughts?

fisheye is generally from contamination. you say you wet sanded it. you sure that shit was dry before you sprayed it again?

Yes, i wet sanded and it was completely dry to the touch. I didn't wash it though i just whiped the water off from the wetsanding. Could that be it?

possibly. i've never tried spraying over wet. with fisheye, usually the culprit is some kind of oil, but i think it goes without saying the surface has to be perfectly clean. that includes clean of dust from sanding, clean of water and clean of oils that you deposit on the surface just by touching it without wearing gloves.

i personally sand once before paint, wash it a billion times, wipe dry and let it sit for a while to make sure any remaining moisture has evap'd off. after that, any time i handle it, latex gloves are on. if you're spraying rustoleum, i wouldn't bother with wetsanding between coats. spray on all coats, let dry, then wetsand up to 2000, finish with orbital buffer and rubbing compound. it will be glossy.

I rattled my vert. Ill post pics tonight. Take your time, sand really good and find a tagger who is good with a rattle can. The problem is that flow of paint isn't as consistent as a real paint gun.

TAKE YOUR TIME

So i did the other side, and as you said i washed it a couple times and it helped alot. I'll have to sand back to primer and start again on the wrinkled part on the rear end. Rubber gloves is a good idea!

Oh and as far as wet sand, what number should i do up to 2000?

really depends man. figuring out how rough you want your sandpaper depends on how much you need to sand down. for something rough to the touch, i might start with 1500, then 2000, then orbital buffer with rubbing compound, then polishing compound. if it comes out nice, you could probably just level it out with a quick 2000 wetsand and go straight to buffing /w polish.

of course all of this is balanced by the fact that you're doing a rattle can job. if you try to sand/buff too much you will end up going down to the bottom layer of primer/paint and you'll have to respray.

so you'll have to pick a point where you either lay on more coats next time so you have more to work with, or just say fuck it and deal with the imperfections

Starting my adventure. Never done did dis befo'.

It's going ok.
I figure it can't look any worse than it started [mismatched paint scuffs EVERYWHERE]

Doing a red and black two tone. That is the red after drying. I'll wetsand it [kinda chunky] then do another layer.

p.s. How do you feel about spray paint clearcoat?

From personal experience, spray paint clear coat is a hit or miss. I would just use a gloss with no clear coat but wax it often.

Here's my buddy's hatch. Fresh Valspar purple with Valspar white hood and fluorescent spray painted wheels.

His car got hit by a snow plow this past winter. The overfenders are to cover up the dents.

You haven't seen it haha. Maybe at Exeter Sonic, but the car is brand new. Painted two weeks ago or so.

Why? Because they like bright colors? My buddy has been into 240s WAY before you have. That's his track slut just to say he can. He has less than 3k invested into it.
Here is his other car. Looks like he knows what he's doing.
It's rattlecanned too.
