This happens a lot.

What the dedicated thieves will do is have a good selection of garage door openers set to different codes. Once they spot a target house (one that has something they want), they'll spend a few days driving by and clicking a few remotes until they find one that opens the door.

You should be worried, especially if it's an older garage door opener with the dip-switch manual codes. Those are the easiest to get into.

I actually had a similar issue with my garage door opening outta the blue before.
It turned out my next door neighbor had re-programmed his remote, and believe it or not he set it to the same exact specification as mine... so my remote opened his garage and vice versa.

I just reprogrammed the remote and the situation was fixed

This thread is still "alive" because people aren't leaving useless-jerk posts. OP: I would just inform your parents (if you haven't already). They should care, since it's their house. Maybe the garage door was accidentally triggered. It could have been a power surge, or maybe a power surge damaged something. If anything, just make sure your garage door is secured when your car is parked.

Yeah lol that's how my garage door is now.

Some of my neighbors leave their garages open day and night.

Feels good to live in a safe neighborhood.

My garage remote is attached securely above me, and I never touched it. I parked inside and closed it, and theirs no way someone came downstairs, presses the button, and went back up that quick.

I don't why, but I'm getting the feeling that someone somehow got the code and programmed it to another remote, and that their were watching me to test it, so that they can steal the car when me and the family are away. Should I be worried or am I just really high.

Where do you live?? haha

Seconded... It probably had a contact high from your in car smoke sesh

I use to lock my car in the garage when I lived with my parents back in So Cal cus I had a fully built track car and my dad and I made the conscious decision that since my car was worth a shit ton more than his old school 4runner that it belonged in the garage... So i would lock the garage door and pull the lever connecting the guide to the motor. Wouldn't recommend doing this everyday cus its a pain in the ass, but for vacations or weekend warriors it does the trick
