The adapter fits just fine, ill just have to swap the 3" v-band flange to another style that I got from Burnsstainless.com. I don't know if Ill be able to get on this project this year, there's a lot of stuff that needs money right now, lol. |

People got fussy about me asking this out of this thread... so I suppose I'll just stick to hoping you all can help me out. Pardon my noob-ness... but I've been looking all around and struggling with finding the answers I need. This is my first turbo car, and I've just been rocking the stock t25 thus far. Now I want to upgrade while the winter months set in. Here's my questions.
This may sound dumb... but I know what I want, I just don't know what kind of pieces I need! I searched all the threads I could find, read all 16 pages of this thread, and this may be something so simple people just assume I should know or something. ![]()
Cliffnotes: I want to know what all I need for a completely assembled GTX2867r that's as close to "bolt in" as possible into a black-top s13 sr20det. Thanks for the help ahead of time.

![]() EDIT: Still curious about most all those questions. Especially on the "what fittings/connectors/claps I might need to attach the turbine to the compressor section"... and after doing some more research (though I still need to call ATP), it looks like it's got a "standard" compressor housing (even on Greddy's site) which I hear is supposed to have the "anti surge machining", but ATP offers the GT28 style with the 2 bolt in and 3 bolt out... but no word yet on if it's also got this "anti surge" stuff... or if it's just stuffed into a "normal" gt28 housing?

Hmmm based on what numbers have been posted I think I will stick with my HKS GT-RS for now. At 16lbs it's putting out ~350whp on a street tune. After we throw it on the dyno it should put out 380whp. No benefit to switching at this time.

Just buy the .64 turbine. If you already have an upgraded outlet, then great -- if not, you should probably get one. It will bolt up just fine.
AtP can answer the housing thing -- I'm running the 3" inlet. It's easy enough to built an intake, and you won't really want to run the stock rubber piece anyway. You clearly need to do more research. Look at a 2871 setup and see what you need -- it's the same for this. Buy new hardware and gaskets from frsport or something. 7 layer s15 exhaust manifold gasket, copper lock nuts, locking tabs, multi layer intlet gasket, new 5 bolt gasket. might even be easier to just find an extra stock manifold and put everything together. I'd also recommend stainless braided lines as it makes installation easier. For 300whp, I think an s15 turbo would suit you better, fwiw. edit: USDM, looks like you're making the same 340/300 on a mustang like I am, but at 17psi versus 15psi, and looks like a bit later spool. Prob not worth the upgrade. |

Just as a small update, I can assuredly say that after a few track events that the GTX2867 is a wonderful thing. I'm faster EVERYWHERE and seemingly never out of power even when lugging a gear, which I'd sometimes find myself in at times (spots where being a gear lower would induce too much wheelspin).
I'm *still* trying to find a way back onto the old dyno for a real comparison, but as before, to make mid 390's at 19 psi on a MUSTANG dyno, while maxing maf/injectors, was prove enough to me that it's making a good 20-25 more whp (figure 420-430) whp on a dynojet) up top than my old setup. It just plain runs like a bad mothertrucker, and I'm content with that ![]()

So is this capable of around 430hp? is it worth going with the 0.86 housing if im looking to get in the 400hp range or would the smaller 0.64 housing be better? Theres not much info out there on this turbo. Just want to hear peoples opinions

It does around 430HP on a friends CA18det too (around 1.8bar boost, e85, 9000rpm head). Goes out of puff by 8000-8500rpm but it may be related to his cams too. Still he was making 500+HP with the same engine and a bigger turbo before, so not really sure the cams are to blame...

can you post the compressor map for this turbo? When discussing any turbocharger in any car related forum you always need to post the compressor map at the very top

is this the turbo? Because this one says 600-650 horsepower and you are acting like 500 is something OK I am still reading. This is not the right one, I see. Can somebody update the compressor map for the turbocharger in question |

BTW race fuel is just high octane fuel. e85 is 104 octane. Not sure race fuels go that high... maybe methanol, but that is another story. 500WHP with a gt2867r ? I dont believe it at all, except maybe if it was using nitrous. |

race fuel goes up to 116 octane. More interesting than the octane is the level of oxygenation: the highly oxegenated stuff is $20 +/- per gallon and can't be left in the vehicle because it will eat through metal.
I have used mostly VP and Sunoco race fuels, to race motorcycles. |

I've seen that, and it started a shit storm! All because i said "it was misleading to the majority of user". "That turbo on race gas is like comparing any turbo on pump to any turbo on e85". They said what do you mean? I said, "it has a shit ton of timing, that's why it can make high power at low boost. Switch to pump gas and compare it, or tune a different turbo on race fuel". That memo wasn't about that. "I know!"

Timing makes power to a certain point ... the ideal timing is when the whole fuel is burned at something like 15° after the piston is at its top. Fuel pump dont allow that, but E85 does. You cant get more power unless you get more potential power in the fuel, which i guess C16 is all about.
From the compressor map, 2bar is already pushing it a bit. ![]() It wont run reliably for a very long time on a 2.1L engine... but i guess people using corrosive race fuel dont really care about longevity. Still, 500WHP@ 2bar ? Even on C16 i find it hard to believe. Unless the engine has been specced to run a very high compression ratio too ... It looks more like what some wheelspin on the dyno would produce. got a dyno result of more than 700HP on that little CA when we were expecting to be in the 500hp range ... 3 heavy people in the trunk and some special adhesive spray on the rollers fixed that. |
