Exactly what I was thinking. The angular styling screams for it and it would be another foothold into the euro performance market I'm sure Nissan would like.

No.

The shooting crap design is one of the worst concep ever crafted.

The clown shoe was a poor seeking car and it's by no coincidence the styling did not become universal.

Actually, it does.

Those cars look awful. This is 2013. Not 1923.

How are you both 29 making the arguments of children? I'd love if Zilvia could feel like adults for more than a few days at a time.

What does our age have to do with anything?

Those cars look atrocious, and fill an even smaller niche market than the people begging for the reincarnation of the S-chassis.

His point is you are arguing that your opinion is absolute fact. It's a dumb and juvenile stance. To some people those cars look great.

I am somewhere in between. Some I think look great and some I don't like.

What difference does it make? That is a shitty argument for anything. "Because I said so." is not a factual or logical argument.

Again, you not liking a thing doesn't make that thing bad. It doesn't mean others can't like it. It means you don't like it.

I know what he was saying.

I'm simply reinforcing what Corbic said...if that style of car was actually appealing to the masses, we would be seeing more of them. But since that's not the case, I think it's safe to say that it's not a style that should be reintroduced.

It is a style that has continuously popped up over the decades. Do you really think Ferrari would risk their brand on something they wouldn't be well received?

If car designers went strictly by what the masses like every car out there would be a nondescript beige fwd midsize blob.

Ferrari also has the 458 Italia, the F12, etc. Their reputation isn't riding on one car. You look at BMW during the years the M-coupe was in production, and I'm quite positive that anyone will mention the M3, M5, or even M-Roadster before even wanting to be reminded of the M-Coupe.

Back to Ferrari, they are niche manufacturer as it is. They can afford to fill narrow markets. There is a reason why you see exclusive manufacturers like Ferrari and Ginetta make off the wall design cars, and that's because they can afford it. Nissan and Toyota? While they could definitely afford to do it, it goes completely against their business plan. Their plan is just like you said...to make cookie cutter midsize econoboxes, and maybe one or two models that step out of that comfort zone. Prime example of this poor execution? The Lexus LF-A. A car so incredible in every meaning of the word, but they lost money on every single one they made. And it still cost more than a 458 Italia.

Did I make a blanket statement talking about how nobody likes that style of car? Sure. Was it too general? Probably. But the fact is, that style of car has such a small crowd that it appeals to, it can't even gain a cult following, which means you will likely NEVER see an 'affordable' shooter car ever again.

Does this sound logical enough now? Did I write this in an acceptable manner to appease someone accusing me of acting like a juvenile while they have to display their badassness by cussing in their sig which is attached to every post?

I hope so.

EDIT: I'll assume you changing your sig means that you agree with me.

By that argument the Camry and Corolla are the best cars ever built. Fact. But seriously

Let's keep talking about how fun the idx is. One thing we haven't really talked about is that it IS a concept in every sense of the word. Nissan/Infiniti do two types of concepts. One that is a "near production" concept. The concept at this years Detroit show that foreshadowed the new Rouge is the most current example I can think of. Those cars usually become a production car in less than 12 months. Concepts like the Urge or original GTR concept from the early 2000's are exercises of pure design study. The IDX absolutely falls under the later category. So while I'm really really happy with it I'm not getting my hopes up that we'll see a production car based off ofnitmforna couple years. We'll actually probably see another version of it before we even hear what nissan plans on doing based off of consumer reaction.

Not sure what everyone is talking about, but the BMW M-coupe 'Shooting Brake' or whatever you country fellers are calling it is possibly the best-looking BMW ever, while I have yet to figure out what anyone finds visually appealing about the Mustang.

I should rephrase myself. I don't hate that 'Shooting Brake' design style. I'm just more used to seeing it on FWD or MR hot hatches. I'm not a fan of it on FR cars. I prefer FR's in either coupe or fastback styles. Just a personal preference. I'd rather not see the IDX as a shooting brake.

But hey, can any of you just remember what the buzz and vibe was like when the FT86 concept was first dropped to draw any comparison between public and manufacturer responses?

It's too late to act like a reasonable adult now. Go some where else with the bullshit. lol

Anyway, if someone could shop up a side view of the IDx Nismo as a wagon or shootingbreak without changing the wheelbase or doors I'd be mighty appreciative.

The more I think about the prospects of a smaller turbo 4 Mustang the more I think they should leave the Mustang alone and do a MK1 Escort redux.

A small 2+2 coupe could sell well the world over where as the Mustang really only has a draw here.
