There is an interview somewhere with the designer that said rhe 86 was originally designed to be a vert. Ill search for it later when i have time. Still waiting for the "bad proportions" explaination.

IMO The problem lies in the fact that to cut the roof line they had to cut far back on the body with the longer front end look because of this it throws things off. If they had after cutting the roof line extended forward the back surface plane closer up to the back of the front seats it would look much better. Much of the proportional issue is right here in what I am citing and you would have to blind to not see. To sum it up . The rear is too short, the front is too long and the passenger cavity is too big proportionally, to everything else. They took a decent looking Sports car and bastardized it. The MRS is a much better looking Vert because its proportions are correct. Same goes for the Miata. Hell While I am at it even the S2K's proportions are off though not quite as dramatically as this. Look at the Mustang from the 60's if want to see a vert that has 4 seats and is proportionally correct. Again this is my opinion which I am entitled too. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. YMMV

I agree.
But why did someone post the ugly ass Z33 vert? At least use themore attractive Z34... ![]() For a different perspective ![]() I think guys griping about the proportions being off are really just getting hung up on what a true roadster looks like versus a 2+2 convertible. |

I for one am glad they are making a vert. Maybe that will lend more common people to buy it. With a comfortable sales base perhaps then Toyota would be ok with attempting a turbo.

My bad, more like $30,000. The FRS is already $27 if you get all the options and Vert models generally come loaded. Hard tops are expensive compared to soft tops. So a hard top vert would easily go to $30k.

Honestly I'd go MX5 over this, the refreshed ones look aggressive enough IMO and have nice ergos. I guess this will have the 4 seat vert market cornered since the only alternatives are German or total garbage.
