fuel gauge

hi all

can anyone help please!! have a small problem with my fuel gauge!! when the car is running the fuel gauge goes empty!! but if you put the ignition on the the gauge will work fine but as soon as you start the car or even crank the engine over the gauge goes empty!!

i have put a big bosch pump and thats it

been in the garage for about an hour now.i think i need the sender unit on the fuel pump holder!!

i removed the fuel pump with the holder and moved the float up and down,it didnt work very well!! the only time it worked 100% is when i pushed the float close to the contacts.

i found one black wire broken on top of the sender unit,re-connected but still the same.

am i right anyone?
