its pretty much personal preference, put it where you like it. i like running mine in the fender well near the tire, i like the clean look of just piping and no BOV.

Thats nice, i think im going to do something like that! But with my s14 if i get rid of the bumper reinfocement bar, i have no idea how the bumper cover is going to stay up. I will only be able to bolt it up on the sides by the front wheels, and not by the headlights anymore!

For some reason the intercooler sits a bit too high for the bumper support. it's kind of weird. I'll try to jerry rig it or something. I know i have to be doing something wrong.

imo if you ever plan on recircing it, then it should be on the cold pipe.
if you dont want to risk having any compressor surge it might be a safer bet to put it closer to the compressor exducer. im not sure if it would make a difference, but thats my theory

No, you put it closest to the throttle to minimize loss of air in the pipes... That way it's less work for the turbo and you keep boost up.

I have a recirculating setup, it's on the hot pipe a few inches from the compressor outlet.

It's a cheap-ass XS Power core, standard Ebay size. Intake temps are probably pretty high right now since my filter is right next to the radiator. Gotta get that fixed

I got no filter... Intake temps sky rocket when I'm sitting but when the car is rolling they usually drop back to 30 - 40 degrees C.... FMIC FTW.
