When installing oil pans I like to let the RTV sit and get gummy before I completely tighten the pan.. That way the RTV doesn't get pushed out everywhere...

Also, if you're not using the OEM RTV, make sure you use something that is equivalent to it. Permatex Ultra Grey RTV is what I used and it works just fine. On the back of the package, you'll see a chart that tells you it's an equivalent to the OEM RTV. I've used other RTVs in the past and all of them have leaked on me. Hope this helps

For about 5-10 minutes. Also let it cure overnight once it's all tightened down. Then in the morning just add oil and check for leaks. If nothing good to go.

Till it's not wet but still really sticky. Time all depends on the amount used.

Also you can mill out the slot of the oil pickup 2mm at most on each side.. I've been told that anymore creates an issue with too much pressure.. How I dunno.. I haven't thought into it cause I really don't care, maybe the pick up sucks too much shit in and the pump fails prematurely.... Just sharing knowledge..

When i did my oil pan i used Hondabond and i let it sit by itself for about 15min. then i put it on the car and tightened it down and let it sit for an hour without oil. After an hour i put oil in and double checked everything and drove away. Now i was told by a Honda Tech with a sr20 that it was fine to do that. Was that info wrong?
