thats too many miles to be a collectable based on that alone.

Faded paint will decrease the value greatly as well.

still, a clean body will be worth a lot to someone who is planning on doing a restoration, which is probably most people that are looking at 240Zs anyway.

I paid $2000 for my '73 two years ago.

Bought it with 63,000 miles.

The paint was really oxidized and even had surface rust on some areas.

The interior was MINT, and the paint underneath was in awesome condition.

The prices are all over the place. Some people are asking ridiculous prices and others are practically giving away nice cars. It's completely what you make of it.
As far as mileage goes it really is a non issue. The cars are 30 years old. The stock odo only went to 100k before rolling over and starting new. A car could say it only has 65k on it but unless their is documentation to back it up, (I.E. work orders, smog tests, all documenting the mileage) who really knows?

About the only way a person can honestly prove mileage is if they bought it from the original owner. Given the age of the cars that again is unlikely.

Rule of thumb with the cars is if its got the original engine with the the original head and not a later head or L28 bottom end keep it closer to stock original.
If it has a L28 in it then toss what ever engine you want in it. As collectors cars are based around having original stuff.

As for the car you are looking at it sounds dope, its exactly the kind of find I want to get back into owning Z cars again.
Like Ayuaddict said 2k is probably a reasonable price. Its really up to the owner.

I have seen clean pretty much stock ones go from $2500 to 7k in the last few years. It all depends on where and who you buy it from.

Honestly I would be thinking not so much of how much this car is worth but how much do you think I can pick this car up for? Those are two completely different sets of parameters and you should be operating from the latter.

start at a price you feel is fair, move from there. You might want to ask the guy how much does he think he wants for it. It could be dirt cheap and it could be pie in the sky .

I hope this helps you.

for 1970s Zs you may or may not pay a premium. It depends largely on the vin number (lower vins are worth more for that model year) and the owner (whether or not they know what they have). If it is rusty and doesnt run, I wouldnt even bother. If it runs and is just in rough shape, 500-1500 ball par is what I would want to pay for it. Good luck!

Early 70's are desirable like everyone is saying. I've had #1429 previously and sold it to my buddy as I didn't have the funds to finish it. It really depends also on condition overall. A clean shell, no rust, and clean interior would be a good start. I'll tell you this right now that if you think the 240sx is a money pit, wait till you get a 240z. Hard to find parts nowadays and have to custom build some. I'm on my 7th 240z and will be my last LOL.

I actually owned #349 at one point. Fuck why the hell did I sell it? At the time i felt I owned cleaner ones and I also like a lot of Z enthusiasts favor the 72's. They are pretty much considered to be the best year from a driving perspective. At least that is how most people felt back in the day. It was not about collectables.

Some Black guy from the Protrero Hill bought it. I wonder what happened to it. Factory Blue 70.
Have owned 10 of them. Do not own any now and want another one badly but waiting for the right one to come along. Its also not on the top of my priority list at the moment.

Pictures are worth a thousand words OP.

It's really hard to put a solid price on these cars sometimes. Some owners treasure them and will ask the world for a good condition one, others just want that "old car" out of their driveway.

Honestly though, unless in super mint condition and routine maintainence, all original really means I need a lot of work.
