Little video of Evergreen speedway Open drift. (3/8 track layout)
It was 3rd event attending @ Evergreen and hop to sharp up the line to compete in Grassroots this year. 3rd gear initiation to 2nd gear transition. Does anybody else have an experience with Evergreen? |

I could, but there is an end line where we are not allow to drift after the last turn. So really no point going all crazy on last turn. |

for anyone who cares, these things worked awesome at the event i was just at. It feels like they wont lock up for shit bc of the long throw in the handle now and how easy it moves, but they did EVERY time.

Looking for some help deciding on suspension set-up. Last year I ran 0 camber and 0 toe all around. I was thinking of adding some camber in front to help with positive camber gain but I'm not sure where to start. I don't want to add too much and get a whole bunch of under-steer on turn in. Any help is appreciated.

If anything your getting understeer from 0 Camber.
I would start off with -2* Front and -1* Rear. Toe can stay 0.

I'm having trouble. I get a lot of understeer. What is the cure for this? Car is an all stock 93 base with 2" lowering springs. tires: 40lbf, 50lb r
edit: I did a little reading, and from what i've learned my front tires are too blame. 195/60/15 are just too flexy? Last edited by DialedLife; 04-20-2013 at 05:05 PM.. |

The real question is what kind of tires are on the front?
Also alignment makes a diff in that too.

The tires are good year. LS i think? I don't know exactly. I do know they're old tires. The car was sitting for a few years.
My alignment was off, it pulled to the right. Never bothered with it because I don't have a lot of spare money. Well last night, I bent the left tierod pretty bad. I thought that was strange because I've never hit anything at all. Here's a video of us messing around last night. Jdm jonny pdx drifing! - YouTube |

You don't have spare cash but your drifting?
You don't have to hit anything, it was probably slightly bent to begin with and you just finished it off.

KA240 - Thats what I was thinking. And yes, not the best idea I know, but it's not my only car so it's not too big of a deal.
bataang - totally my thoughts, but I ended up with a new OEM one for $18 that will have to do for now |

So last night It was pretty wet out so I figured I would take the 240sx out to learn to drift a little. *note* I am really new and just getting into drifting. In other words the 240sx is only on lower springs, open diff sadly, and has a stock ka24de.
I was doing well but i could only initiate the drift(power slide) by clutch kicking and I would get too excited/nervous and keep my foot on the gas.. and due to the help of the open diff -___- it would fling the car back around and that eventually made me run over a curb. thank god there was little to no damage if anything just the front bumper. What I am asking is a little advice. I plan to purchase all new rotors/pads because my e-brake doesn't lock up the rear tires yet even with an adjustment. I am also looking to purchase PBM competition coilovers, and I am getting my diff welded. Is there much more to it then that as a beginner drifter besides lots of tires/drift spares?? I am reading up all the time so please don't flame. Thank you. I am researching everyday just thought I'd lay that out there for now. |

lets say that curb did fuck your car up, well that would cost more than the ~100$ it costs for an event. plus you were probably only driving for no more than 2 hours, whereas an event you get like 8 hours. go to an event. you dont need coilovers to drift, i suggest learning without it first. get a proper seat instead. your ebrake not locking might be because of your lines, they could be stretched. I'd look into that first, cause if your ebrake doesn't lock your brakes then slamming your pedal should only lock the front kinda. you dont need lots of spares, slow it down dude. you aren't roasting tires if youre a beginner. focus more on your technique rather than preparing yourself for the act. get tires as you need them, and if you so need to get spares then get something cheap like oem wheels for now. many people on here have drifted ka respectably, so don't give up with that either. lastly, learning with an open diff is better than learning with a welded

Yeah I was about to buy 4 steelies with tires for $50, figured I should grab them. I have signed up for a drift event for July 20th so I am definitely looking forward to that. I am planning to go to Adam motorsports on a drift night and just do a ride along to see how it all goes then pay to try drifting there myself. Thank you. I am just getting way ahead of myself. |

Just because its not fun its retarded?
Teaches you to make the most of weight transfer and speed because without it you'll never keep and open sliding. Some like it some don't. All personal pref. I felt starting/learning with it was better than a welded.

I dont know if this is the right place or not but i was wondering what you guys run for alignment wise??
Right now i need a alignment i have about -2.5 up front and like -1.5 camber in the rear with a little toe out and in (front and back) usually when i go to do a alignment i do -2.5 to -2.7 up front with about .3 toe-out in the front and for the rear i set everything to 0....does that sound about right? or should i be putting some toe in for the rear and maybe alittle camber or no??... Also do you prefer 17'' wheels to 18'' wheels or is it not that much of a difference i have a full set of 17s and 18s i use for drifting but eventually i plan on selling all my wheels and getting 10 of the same wheels and always running the same tire size to keep it as consistant as possible but i dont know if i should go with 17x10 or 18x10 all the way around If it matters its for my 14 making about 330whp |

As close to 0 camber in the rear will give you maximum tire contact. Help with grip, speed and be able to use all the tire up.
