How do the chassis and motors compare to your old setup? Since I "live" in Texas now I've been thinking about just registering my car here next year and doing a swap.

haha. two years of driving a bone stock KA...there's only so much you can get out of it. buuuut....this car is coming back bigger and better than the last. lol I did keep the gramlights. Quote:
I've always wanted a coupe with a kouki s14 front end on it. I finally found a good deal, sold the zenki, and picked up a sr'd coupe. Sr's are really fun if you drive them hard. People complain about boost on these motors, but I find the challenge a lot more fun since I'm not in FD competing with 900hp NA motors. You just need to learn to compensate. NA= Reaction BOOSTED= Anticipation |

The only problem i have most of the time is my fronts being shitty, yokohoma s.drives aren't that great imo hahaha yeah stock ka's are evil motors, the fight they put up against grip is so fun though, you gotta drive super aggressive hah

can someone explain to me why im understeering when trying to power through a turn in second gear? i either understeer, or i dont break traction at all. never had this problem with my old car with stock shocks.
i have stance gr + pro coils kaaz 2 way with kaaz diff oil DF motor mounts poly sway bar bushings poly steering rack bushings poly subframe bushing hks 3.15" silent high power exhaust aem intake thats all i have, suspension and motor wise. i thought it was because the front was too stiff, because i had the coils set at 8, with the rear at 10, so i turned it down to 4 in the front and 6 in the rear. running -.75 camber in the front, and -3 in the rear. for some reason, my front tires just keep sliding, and there's plenty of tread on the tires. it was even understeering in the rain most of the time. anyone have a guess on the problem? theyre stock se's btw. is it just that my wheels don't have enough grip for the coils? because like i said, i didn't have this problem when i didn't have coils. if thats the case, it should go away when i get my wheels next month ya? planning on getting sbc 18x9.5 +15 rpf1's all around

too much negative camber in the rear. Not enough up front. Should be the other way around. But.. -3 is too much for stock se's. I'd run -1 or -1.5 with 0 or -.5 in the rear
edit: and damping - soft in the front. 5 clicks from max soft and rear needs to be almost max stiff (for stock KA) |

I noticed a long time ago that a lot of the Pro level guys have more negative camber up front than in the back which makes sense if you think about it. Run less caster too? |

I think about damping like this: Soft in the front will give the suspension more travel enabling it to grip more when initiating the car for a drift. When the rear is stiff, it prevents travel allowing it to lose traction and not grip.

it's really simple. before, when you turned, body roll would push on one side, and when throttles, it moves that momentum to the back, allowing it to kick out. Now you don't have that momentum as much, and now you are relying on the tires to make you initiate. simple fix is a) up the rear tire pressure by a ton b) buy a grippier tire for the front to allow more turn in. basically your back tires are pushing you, and because the car is now more balanced, the rear fights the front. ![]() my opinion...just buy stickier tire. Azenis 615's are perfect. |

you are very right. take that a step further, and now you want to add grip, you soften the rear. Or if you want to understeer more (more of 4wd drift) stiffen the front. Sway bars work the same way. As well as spring rates, tire compounds (stiffer the tire...yup). fun stuff. |

You aren't using the full face of your front tires once you countersteer. And your rear won't break traction because once you try to countersteer the weight sways your car thus resulting in the full face contacting the ground. 3* or even more camber up front and 1* camber in rear. Your car will handle much different. For the front you want the leading tire to touch the ground at max lock. Adjusting camber in the front will help you do that.

front tires = more grip while drifting. it definitely deals with more stuff like suspension set up and all that jazz but no matter what set up you are running, if you can't grip the front then you can't steer the car front tires pretty much dictate how much control you will have on your car once you start drifting, if they grip enough to allow. running a crappy tire will mean that you can understeer (when you're car moves at a more shallow angle than that of which your wheels are pointed) you always want more grip upfront than in rear, or at the least balanced grip. I'm looking into advan ad08 for the front, or federal 595-RSR, and then i just run cheap tires in the rear

I've run S-Drives, NT05s, and Toyo R1-Rs up front. The S-Drives weren't bad but aren't on the same level as the NT05s and R1-Rs. I just picked up the R1-Rs because they were 230 shipped for a pair of 235/40/17s, which was basically regular Federal tire pricing. So far I love them, it was in the low 40s at the last drift event and you couldn't tell at all.
I need to order some new rear tires. I have been running Hankook Ventus VRIIs, but it looks like they're discontinued now. I loved the way they burned, they lasted a long time and burned up evenly, no chunking or anything like that. I liked using Federals out back when I had an SR but I'd burn up a brand new pair in a few passes...and I know that will only happen faster with the LS. Does anyone have any rear tire recommendations that burn really well and are sub 100 a tire in 255/40/17?

i have a problem staying sideways.. i have shitty tires in back and falken ziex up front.. i can get it sideways(clutch kick/stage 3 clutch) and counter-steer but when i give it gas it starts to grip after a little while and catch itself. its kinda annoying im on tein he's with pretty mild damper settings. maybe i'm just being a weenie, and letting off the gas a little without noticing?
